Khevsureti - Land of Valleys

Khevsureti lies in northern Georgia, tucked between more famours Kazbegi and Tusheti regions. It consists of two parts. Lower Khevsureti lies on the southern slopes of Caucasus, while Upper Khevsureti lies on the northern slopes.

Khevsureti is another beautiful mountainous region, which offers its majestic mountains, wild rivers, fortified villages, atmospheric abandoned settlements, ancient shrines and minimal tourist infrastructure.

Just like its neighbour, Tusheti, Khevsureti is not accessible all year long, as Datvisjvari pass gets usually blocked by snow from around October and it becomes passable again in around May.

Khevsureti's unique defensive architecture is proof of the militant past of the Khevsuri people. The architectural landscape is highly fortified and defensive in nature, with series of towers jutting out of the mountainsides, that slightly constant vigilance against enemy attacks.

Khevsureti cuisine features specialties generally typical of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

Below are some sceneries, which Khevsureti offers.
