Why start with Tbilisi when visiting Georgia.

Tbilisi, founded in the fifth century by Vakh tang I, is the biggest, capital city in Georgia. An ideal intersection of its old, traditional visual (referred to as Old Tbilisi), alongside fulfilling its potential as a modern city.  There are many reasons to visit the city, here would be some of them you might be interested in. Rich Nightlife Whether you're interested in clubbing, having a glass of red wine over a magical view or a long night walk - Tbilisi can kick in either of them. After a day of exploration, at night time, suit yourself with the relaxation you feel is best for you. Old Tbilisi Interested as to what Tbilisi looked like a century or two ago? Well, you can literally travel in time as to what this historical city looked like at that time. Old Tbilisi, or here referred to as "Dzveli Tbilisi", is a large area consisting of traditional Tbilisi houses, snaking lanes and a famous restaurant-lined Jan Shardeni Street. Svaneti - Mountains and Towers.

Image
Svaneti region is situated in the northwestern Georgia, along the southern slopes of Greater Caucasus mountains. It consists of two parts - Upper ("Zemo") and Lower ("Kvemo") Svaneti. Upper Svaneti lies in the watershed of Enguri river, while Lower Svaneti lies in the valley of Tskhenistkali river, separated from Upper Svaneti by the mountain range.  There are beautiful mountains, but Lower Svaneti lacks towers and the villages, in overall, don't look so medieval. Therefore Lower Svaneti simply pales in comparison to its northern neighbour - Upper Svaneti.  Svaneti can be visited all year round, but the majority of tourists come during summer and winter. Summer is perfect for hiking, while winter - for skiing. Because of the natural conditions, Svan cuisine is not as varied and refined as Georgian lowland's. Compared to other, mostly lowland regions, its rather simple and filling. The signature Svan dish is Kubdari - flatbread filled by ground meat, onio

Tusheti - Region, literally, tucked in the mountains.

Image
Tusheti is a pristine, remote region tucked in the mountains of northeastern Georgia, l ocated on the northern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, Tusheti is mostly populated by ethic Georgians called Tushs/Tushetians. Traditionally, they are sheep herders, whose famous Guda Cheese and high quality wool was exported to Europe and Russia. The life in Tusheti is outlined by two main events - the opening and closure of the mountain road. The road to Tusheti usually opens in late May when the bulldozer clears the path and local shepherds herd their flocks of sheep through Abano Pass to summer pastures in the mountains. They are followed by tourists and hikers willing to experience this unique area. Also, many Georgians from lowlands travel here to reconnect to their ancient homeland. Then, in autumn (mostly at the end of September) shepherds drive their flocks back to the lowlands and road soon gets blocked by snow. And so, Tusheti falls into its winter sleep again. Only b

Kazbegi - One-of-a-kind destination.

Image
Kazbegi is located in the far-northern part of Georgia, around 12 kilometers away from the Russian border, almost directly north to Tbilisi. It lies within the historical Khevi province, which is now part of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.        It is seemingly a one-of-a-kind destionation. Gergeti Trinity Church - the country's most iconic place of worship, The Greater Caucasus - views of Europe's most impressive mountain range and the snow-capped crest of Georgia's third highest peak. Kazbegi offers all, as you take a deep breath of its fresh air. Gergeti     Even if you're no mountain climber, an easy hike-up to Gergeti could be your very reason for visiting Kazbegi, as you relax after reaching the destination, taking a deep breath of fresh air, watching over the view, which Gergeti respectively provides. This is where Gergeti is situated.     The mountain peak that looms over Gergeti goes by two names - Mount Kazbek and Mount Kazbegi. In Georgian, however, it is call

Adjara - The Seaside region.

Image
Adjara is located on the Black Sea Coast. Most of its territory is filled with mountains and ravines. The region stands out from the others with its mild, warm climate. Here you can enjoy mountains, lowlands and a great diversity of fauna, along with centuries-old architectural, archeological and historical sites.     Batumi is the administrative center of the Adjara Autonomous Republic and is an important international port city. It's a modern European city where, similar to Tbilisi, you are charmed by the harmonious blend of old and new.     Wander down a long boulevard, admire the statue of eternal love - Ali and Nino, watch the sunset and enjoy both modern and ancient architectural landmarks.     Regarding cuisine, here's something Adjara, and even more, Georgia if famous for. Acharuli Khachapuri, which stands for "Adjarian Khachapuri".     Acharuli Khachapuri is a filled bread stuffed with melting cheese. It is justifiably considered to be one of Georgia'

Kakheti - Georgia's wine region.

Image
Kakheti is located in eastern Georgia, which includes the territories of the historical-geographical provinces of Kakheti. It is bordered by Kartli to the west, the Russian Federation (Dagestan) to the north, from which is is separated by the Caucasus Mountains, and, finally, Azerbaijan to the south. Kakheti region includes the inner and lower reaches of Iori river and the Alazani river basin.     Ancient history, interesting culture, impressive nature and top-class resorts make Kakheti a very attractive destination for those, who want a pleasant vacation.     Traces of human life in Kakheti date back to the Stone age, defined between 2,300,000 years to 10,000 years BC.     Archaeological evidence dates Georgia's winemaking tradition back to the 6th millennium BC, predating the earliest wine production in France by more than 5,000 years. Wineries in Kakheti continue to live out this legacy. They vary from tiny family operations that stick to time-honored natural winemaking me

Khevsureti - Land of Valleys

Khevsureti lies in northern Georgia, tucked between more famours Kazbegi and Tusheti regions. It consists of two parts. Lower Khevsureti lies on the southern slopes of Caucasus, while Upper Khevsureti lies on the northern slopes.     Khevsureti is another beautiful mountainous region, which offers its majestic mountains, wild rivers, fortified villages, atmospheric abandoned settlements, ancient shrines and minimal tourist infrastructure.     Just like its neighbour, Tusheti, Khevsureti is not accessible all year long, as Datvisjvari pass gets usually blocked by snow from around October and it becomes passable again in around May.     Khevsureti's unique defensive architecture is proof of the militant past of the Khevsuri people. The architectural landscape is highly fortified and defensive in nature, with series of towers jutting out of the mountainsides, that slightly constant vigilance against enemy attacks.     Khevsureti cuisine features specialties generally typical of th
